Karen Wang

Student Intern Bodyworker

Karen graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology. As an individual who had grown up playing a variety of different sports, her interest in Massage Therapy had therefore stemmed from experiencing injuries of her own while playing at a competitive level. After receiving support from a number of healthcare professionals, she had then realized that she was passionate about the possibility of helping others by helping alleviate and/or possibly prevent any ongoing pain, discomfort, or stress that an individual may be experiencing through the use of manual therapy.

Karen is therefore currently studying at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy to become a Registered Massage Therapist and will be working as a Bodyworker to help further develop her skills and abilities in the field of Manual Therapy during her studies. Moreover, prior to pursuing this career, Karen had hence also worked as a Business Development Consultant, Sales and Leasing Consultant, Administrative Assistant, and as well as a Behaviour Interventionist and is thus an experienced Customer Service Personnel.

As a result, success for Karen as a future RMT means being able to be a knowledgeable and trustworthy health care professional where her goal on a daily basis would be to help improve the health and wellbeing of her patients. In order to do so, this would thus entail utilizing her pre-existing knowledge, all the while also using her clinical reasoning, and active listening skills in order to put together the best treatment plans for her patients.
